Kentic's Doug Madory has nicely provided some graphs showing a unknown amount of traffic disappearing at 1800 UTC yesterday. The C Root DNS server (That is single homed behind 174) appears unreachable for quite a few networks in India now: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/71894623#probes
It would appear that large chunks of TATA in APAC are unreachable from Cogent now, by the looks of it due to Cogent depeering TATA in APAC. Networks that are single homed behind AS6453 (At least in APAC/India) or AS174 will not be able to reach each other. This is similar but more serious to the previous regional NTT-Cogent depeerings (since those ones were just in the Europe region, and raised latency instead of full unreachability) This seems to come off the back of Cogent trying to establish a market in APAC, and the main players in that region not wanting to have their market eaten away by Cogent (To be fair, Cogent is very good at getting prices down, and APAC is still quite expensive per mbps). A snippet of a Cogent ticket says: Estimated damage is that 1575 ASNs now have (more) connectivity issues, 930 (Cogent customers) + 645 (TATA customers)
Despite Cogent’s repeated requests, TATA has consistently refused to establish connectivity in Asia, taking advantage of Cogent’s good faith efforts while also ensuring sub-standard service to both companies customers. No amount of good will and good faith augments on Cogent’s part has brought TATA any closer to the negotiating table for a resolution to the lack of connectivity in Asia. This one-sided situation has become untenable and as a result, Cogent has elected to start the process of restricting connectivity to TATA.

@MiaWinter I suspect(?) there is some argument that so as long as they are calculating the data out of things like chat logs or whatever, rather than directly collecting that data, then it's fine.

@Nocta It's in the "Request all of my data" ZIP file they email you (after a few days), go to
Settings>Privacy & Safety>Request All My Data
Ha! The Discord GDPR/Data Export thing reveals that it's running models to figure out what gender you are. If you go to Anyway, they seem to have this datapoint _over time_! Meaning you can make a graph of how male/female/NB you are according to discord, here is mine:
/activity/analytics/events-*.json
and grep for predicted_gender you get something like:{

@tedu My silly solution to this for bgp.tools is to have github actions built everything on push, I don't do anything with that, so I'm more of the CI people rather than the CD, but it quickly points out when I've forgotten a file needed to build the business

Dammit. So many cheap EPYC CPU upgrades on UK eBay that I cannot use because Dell made the decision to blow the efuses on all EYPC CPUs to vendor lock them when they are first powered on. So the CPUs are only usable in dell motherboards. There is a special place in hell etc etc

@nicoduck I am on Frys-IX, but the issue is that each IXP that box is connected to is namespaced away, partly for safety, and also sanity... Well, The downside is that I can't do any funny shenanigans like that

@nicoduck yeah... first time doing QinQ on this kind of setup. Might need to find a way to gift someone a free PDU :), and also add more robust ways to backdoor myself into the machine via IXP addresses
When the QinQ script is a bit too aggressive. "enp1s0" was my sole transit interface... and this box was not on a PDU.... So I guess this is a "see you tomorrow when someone unplugs you" One of the few times I've yelled "FUCK" at the top of my voice in a empty apartment...

@dee The sad thing is, Android is still a nightmare! It's just the industry forces the suffering because of market share, Somewhat proof that in the grand scheme of things the best dev experience is not the best selling products. The C# windows phone dev environment was great, loved that stuff

A screen so bizzare to see that when I posted it on Reddit people did not believe it and I got downvotes instead
I'm forever disappointed that windows phone did not survive, It had one of the better UX/UI stories that only now my Pixel 7 is equivalent to, while also just being decent hardware. Though it still was windows through and through, demonstrated by the one time the phone crashed/rebooted/whatever during some activity and I got greeted with a classic "bootmgr" screen asking me to insert the windows installation disk into my phone...
Hmmm, Don't think it's supposed to do that on the lock screen password prompt

@MrDOS The core issue is that they don't seem to know they are replying to 100's of people, all of their replies are like "hello what circuit are you talking about" when someone announces something that is clearly unrelated to what Google/Akamai does

To be fair, it's not just Google that does this, Akamai and AMS-IX (who are for some reason subscribed to the LINX mailing list) also are incredibly tedious to deal with in this same regard
How do we collectively stop Google's NOC from replying to every single IX mailing list post thinking that people are talking to them directly. How do we teach them about mailing lists. Is such a thing possible????
Having never touched EVPN stuff (so far?, it's sort of out of my needs/desires) this is what a good % of IP networking conference talks sound like in my head: (The original talk is actually interesting, even though I've never deployed EVPN)
