1.0 RELEASED! 🎉
(happy !)

Macstodon is a Mastodon client for vintage (pre-OSX) computers.

New in 1.0 (there's so much stuff that it's finally time to bump the major version):
- Profiles!
- User interactions! (follow/mute/block and notes)
- Preferences - customize the number of toots to load at launch and on refresh!
- Junk characters removed!
- Open links in browser, download attached media!
- Icons for interactions!
- Many, many bug fixes!

System Requirements:
- A 68020+ or PPC Mac
- System 7.1 through 9.2.2
- At least 4 MB of free memory (8-16 MB recommended)
- 32-bit addressing enabled
- Internet Config installed
- an SSL-stripping proxy such as WebOne running on another machine

You can download it from GitHub: github.com/smallsco/macstodon (don't forget to read the Read Me file, it contains important setup instructions!)

Still Dangerous

I’m not sure this fence is entirely stable.

Update: Here’s another section of the fence that I don’t think I’d want to lean on!

If you're sad about Lance Reddick, his widow asked for people to donate to MOMcares, a Baltimore-based charity that provides prenatal and postpartum care to under-supported Black women who've been through the NICU wringer. It helps unborn babies, it helps Black maternal mortality rates, it should appeal to pretty much everyone. Go! www.momcares.org

Are you a developer?

There's a new initiative by @gabek (the lead developer of the Fediverse livestreaming platform @owncast) called FediDocs. It aims to provide an easy-to-find set of documentation for how to federate with a Fedi platform, in order to promote better federation between platforms.

The FediDocs website is still very new and empty (fedidocs.org/about/) but if you are a Fedi developer please contact @gabek about contributing info on federating with your project.

Godzilla vs M3GANgodzilla

It looks like Takahe can follow Pixelfed, but replies/mentions don't make it back.

@KelsonV I wonder if a public reply from Takahe to Pixelfed will show up as a comment or not.

@KelsonV Looks like Takahē is able to follow Pixelfed now!

How many symbols do you need to type on a keyboard to make a heart?

Less than three.

@experiments @KelsonV Hmm, Takahe does the same as Mastodon - convert the lists to line breaks, remove all other formatting except links...but it also adds the link to the plaintext URL.

@kelsonv @KelsonV@wandering.shop @kelsonv@gts.keysmash.xyz Takahe also displays line breaks after each item.

i think people conclude mastodon will never catch on because it is more difficult to post so bad it makes the news

@kelsonv Takahe also shows the plain list with line breaks.

cursed web dev blast from the past

@kelson@hyperborea.org Can you see the fnords? Are they equatorial?

@brion At least we had a pretty good library to choose from!
